Whether you’ve never sat on a horse, never held a sword, or have years of experience, you’ll find a place at Warlander. Our instructors work with every student individually, helping each person progress at their own pace in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.

You don’t need to arrive with experience, special equipment, or exceptional fitness — just curiosity and the willingness to learn.

Kit

What Should I Wear?

Comfortable sports clothing is perfectly fine for your first visit. We recommend:

  • Long trousers or leggings
  • Comfortable sports shoes with a closed toe
  • Clothing suitable for outdoor activities
  • A bottle of water during warm weather

As you continue training, our instructors will advise you on any additional equipment you may wish to purchase. For beginners, we provide everything needed to get started.

On The Day

What Does a Typical Training Session Look Like?

Every discipline is slightly different, but most sessions include:

  • A short introduction and warm-up
  • Technical instruction and skill development
  • Practical exercises
  • Individual coaching and feedback
  • Time to ask questions and improve specific techniques

For riding lessons, you’ll also spend time preparing your horse before the lesson and caring for it afterwards — an important part of becoming a thoughtful and responsible rider.

Before You Book

Common Questions

Do I need my own horse or equipment?

No. We provide the horses, bows, swords, protective equipment, and everything else needed for beginners. As you progress, we’ll be happy to advise you if and when purchasing your own equipment becomes worthwhile.

Do I need to be fit?

Not at all.

Our activities improve fitness over time, but you don’t need to be an athlete before you begin. Lessons are adapted to your current abilities, and you’ll naturally build strength, balance, coordination, and confidence as you train.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes. For the welfare and comfort of our horses, horseback riding is currently available to participants weighing up to 110 kg. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, feel free to contact us — we’ll be happy to discuss the most suitable options.

Can I book a trial lesson?

Absolutely! Many of our members started with a single lesson before deciding to continue. It’s a great way to meet our instructors, get to know the horses, and experience the atmosphere at Warlander.

Can adults start as complete beginners?

Of course. We teach both children and adults, and many of our students begin with no previous riding or martial arts experience.

What happens if it rains?

Most activities continue in light rain, although the program may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. If severe weather makes training unsafe, we’ll arrange a replacement session whenever possible.

Can I watch a training session before joining?

Yes! If you’d like to see our training environment before booking your first lesson, you’re welcome to visit and observe. We simply ask that you contact us in advance so we know to expect you.
