Historical Fencing & Mounted Fencing / Jousting

What if learning to fight with a sword wasn’t fantasy — but a real sport based on historical martial arts?

The School

Reconstructed From The Manuals

Warlander is a Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) school. HEMA is the study and practice of authentic European combat systems reconstructed from historical fencing manuals written by medieval and Renaissance masters. It combines history, athleticism, strategy, and technical skill in a modern, safe sporting environment.

Training begins with the fundamentals of footwork, timing, distance, and weapon handling before progressing to controlled sparring and advanced techniques. Our goal is not only to teach historical combat but to help students develop coordination, confidence, discipline, and respect for their training partners.

For Those Who Also Ride

For those who also ride, an entirely new world opens up.

Students who have developed both horseback riding and HEMA fundamentals can continue into mounted fencing and, ultimately, jousting. These disciplines recreate the martial skills once practiced by mounted warriors while using modern safety standards and specialized training equipment.

All protective equipment and training weapons are provided by the club, making it easy for beginners to get started.
